The Splitwise alternative built for group trips
SkySplit is a free app for splitting trip costs with friends. No daily limits, no ads, and every expense in any currency rolls into one balance. Friends join from a link or QR code in their browser, and it works offline.
Why people look for a Splitwise alternative
- The free plan has a daily limit. After a few expenses a day you wait, or pay. On a trip, that’s exactly when you need to log the most. More on the limit.
- Currency conversion is Pro. On the free plan a trip across countries ends with a balance per currency (“you owe $12 and are owed £8”) instead of one number. How to split in several currencies.
- Ads, and friends need an account before they can even see the group.

Questions
Is SkySplit free?
Yes. Trips, expenses, splitting, multi-currency balances and settling up are free, with no daily limits and no ads. SkySplit Pro ($4.99/month or $39.99/year) adds trip reports, deeper insights, more AI scans, private expenses and couples sharing one wallet.
How does SkySplit handle different currencies?
Every trip has one base currency. Add an expense in any of 160+ currencies and it’s converted at that day’s rate, which is then locked in, so everyone sees one balance in one currency.
Do my friends need to download SkySplit?
No. They open your invite link or scan the trip’s QR code and use it in the browser. The iPhone app is optional.
Can I import my groups from Splitwise?
Not yet. Start a new trip in SkySplit and keep your old Splitwise groups for history. Most people switch at the start of their next trip.
When is Splitwise the better choice?
For long-running shared bills like roommates or a household: it has recurring expenses, payment-app integrations in some countries and a native Android app. SkySplit is built for trips.
